Frequently Asked Questions About Booking Nature Jams

What age range does Nature Jams typically perform for?

Nature Jams has had success performing for children as young as 6 months and as old as middle school. Typically however, children ages 3-10 have the most fun listening to and participating in a Nature Jams show.

How long is a typical Nature Jams assembly?

A typical assembly is about one-hour long. We are happy to play a slightly longer or slightly shorter set in the interest of making the assembly easier to schedule in a normal school day.

How much will it cost to bring Nature Jams to our school?

For pre-schools, one concert costs $400 while two concerts in the same day costs $500. For elementary schools, one concert is $650 while two concerts in the same day costs $800. Typically when we travel outside of a 75 mile radius from Newark DE, we ask for additional travel costs. We bring a lot of instruments, a lot of materials, and a lot of fun, which takes a lot of time, work, and equipment to prepare. When we play shows at venues like the World Cafe Live, tickets cost between $5-10 per child and more for their adult guardians. A school assembly costing $500 and entertaining 100 - 200 children and teachers is, by that standard, a good deal!

We realize that not every school has the same budget for assemblies or for music and so we offer the option of having just one of us come to your school for an acoustic performance. When we don't need to carry our entire sound system, and when we only have to make the schedule work for one person, it makes us much more flexible and so that is reflected in the cost. We have a strong message that needs to be brought to schools of every kind, and so we are happy to work with you and your school to reach a price to meet your budget.

For a school assembly, how many children should attend a Nature Jams performance?

The best Nature Jams assemblies take place when there is enough room for the kids attending to get up and dance. By using a combination of high energy numbers, sing-a-longs, and visuals, Nature Jams is able to keep kids attentive for their full show. Too many children in too small of a space often means that dancing becomes an issue of safety. At those assemblies where student's cannot stand up and interact, the student's tend to not be as engaged. While the number of students you want to bring to an assembly is up to the school, we ask that you keep this in mind when booking your event.

Would Nature Jams be willing to do more than one show at a single school?

Definitely. This is a great option for schools that can’t fit all of the students in a single space. We find it’s best to split the children by age, so then we can gear our shows toward either a slightly older or slightly younger crowd.

Would Nature Jams be willing to do several schools in a single district/area on a given day?

If you think Nature Jams is right for more than one school in your area, we would happily book two or three shows in a single district over the course of a day or two. Nature Jams lives on the border of Maryland and Delaware and anytime we travel to a different area, we try to book as many shows in that area as we can.

For instance, in August 2012 we played a 9:30 am show at one Pelham Tiny Tots camp and an 11:00 am show for Senator Jeff Klein at a different Pelham Tinty Tots camp.

What does my school need to provide Nature Jams for their show?

A stage or staging area, one power outlet, and lots of excited children!

What kind of parking does Nature Jams require?

We typically travel in one car. For inner city schools, if the parking is crowded or difficult, don’t fret. We’ll find a spot!
